Geometry Dash Scratch Community over the years

OK so I've been a Scratch user for SIX YEARS!! And man, it's been a great journey so far. I have no plans on quitting.

How I found out

But the thing that stands out to me the most over these 6 years was how I developed a Geometry Dash Scratch community. In 2016, griffpatch uploaded his take on Geometry Dash, where you can find here.

This game CRAZY BLEW UP!! Look at those phenomenal ratings (mostly because griffpatch gets the upper hand for being a Scratch god)!! Not only is this griffpatch's second most popular Scratch project (behind Paper Minecraft), but it is the second most popular project OF ALL TIME!!!

Unfortunately, the game never updated again after v1.5, and only three of the twenty-one levels were developed: Stereo Madness, Back on Track, and Polargeist. What did I do? I put my foot down and decided to make the next six levels: Dry Out, Base After Base, and Can't Let Go. I originally made it just for my amusement (my Scratch account didn't get many views at the time), but then... it got to 100 loves??? Look at it's ratings now!

3K is a lot! But I think it deserves more, that's just me personally. I gradually accept the success of this project regardless of it's ratings. This caused me to make the sequel with two more levels, Jumper and Time Machine!! And that blew up HARDER!!! I don't get how that one is more popular than 4-6. It feels strange to be honest.

Thank you, my people! These projects mean so much to me. I don't seem to be popular nearly anywhere else, unfortunately (Twitter sucks, I never get views).

Then I met CrystalKeeper7

Then I met my best friend CrystalKeeper7. He decided to take after me and develop Cycles, xStep, Clutterfunk, Theory of Everything, and Electroman Adventures (all of which he allowed me to remake, and I made 2020-2021 remakes, I'll get to that later), and the spinoff games. But one project of his stood out: Geometry Dash Subzero. It blew HARD when it first came out, getting thousands of likes and a million views, probably because the official Geometry Dash Subzero released at the time.

But it blew up harder than 7-8! Time to sabotage this... KIDDING! I developed the second level: Nock Em. I'm proud of it. Unfortunately, the game was taken down by Scratch. Scratch hated CK7's Geometry Dash games, calling them rip-offs, exact copies of some strange thing he's never seen before, and uncredited. I feel bad for him.

But if you want to check out CrystalKeeper7's profile, here. He makes AWESOME games, like Fill, The Orb, and Neon Switch. AND he gets in touch with GRIFFPATCH!!

Editing the game, and new friends

So the part about me that made me unique from the other Scratchers was my ability to change the project's gameplay. I added in many orbs, boost pads, and even the wave mode! I couldn't figure out how to fully implement gravity at the time. Eventually, we made all the gameplay elements, including the BALL!! That was a struggle but I made it work, with some help from others to smoothen the gameplay.

Then I met my other best friends: chikomastr, iPhone_ATT_TWC115, Fireball_3600, and Iceball_362! Chikomastr was the third of our trio (with me and CK7) to develop all 21 levels of the original app. While his project went lost in time, I archived it. iPhone_ATT_TWCC115 continues to remake custom levels in the original app, in particular famous "demon" levels. Fireball_3600 and Iceball_362 are also good friends of mine, who originally made a collab for the demon level "Bloodlust".

Conclusion

Take a look at this, and then this. Isn't it amazing how much has happened over five years?? I'm proud of everyone who took a part in this community, and I hope to see it grow further in the future. Thank you!!
